Georges Brassens (1921–1981) was a French poet, composer, and performer born in Cète, France. His work spans the genres of pop and European music. Brassens became known for his witty and philosophical lyrics, which he performed to guitar accompaniment. Among his most famous songs are "Les Copains d'abord" "Chanson pour l'Auvergnat" and "La Mauvaise Réputation" His works had a profound influence on French musical culture and inspired many subsequent singer-songwriters.
