
Булат Окуджава (1924–1997) was a Soviet and Russian poet, novelist, screenwriter, singer, and composer, originally from the USSR. One of the founders of the Russian art song genre, he became known for his heartfelt lyrics and melodies, which he performed with guitar. Окуджава was a laureate of the USSR State Prize and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR. Among his famous songs are "Песенка о Арбате" and "Ваше благородие" His work had a significant influence on the development of the genre and remains an important part of Russian musical and literary culture.
