
Vinícius de Moraes (full name: Marcus Vinicius da Cruz de Melo Morais ) is a Brazilian poet, singer-songwriter, playwright, and diplomat, born in 1913 in Brazil. He is considered one of the key figures in the development of the bossa nova genre. Among his most famous works is his co-writing of the song "Garota de Ipanema" which became an international hit. Vinícius de Moraes also collaborated with musicians such as Antônio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto . His work has had a significant influence on popular music in Latin America and beyond.
