
Alcest is a French post-black metal band from Bagnols-sur-Cèze, founded in 1999 by musician Neige . Initially conceived as a solo black metal project, the band soon evolved into a trio. After releasing their first demo in 2001, members Aegnor and Argoth left the band, leaving Neige as the sole permanent member. In 2009, drummer Winterhalter from Les Discrets joined the studio lineup. Alcest is known for albums such as "Écailles de Lune" and "Kodama" which have had a significant influence on the post-black metal genre.
