Der Boxer steigt wieder in den Ring

Hört wie ihr lärmt, wie ihr Lieder singt

Hat keine Wahl, außer diesem verdammten Kampf

Solang er boxt ist er frei und hat keine Angst

Und um ihn rum bebt die Stadt aus Stein

Und alle wollen seine Brüder sein

Sie wollen hören, dass er für immer ihr Junge ist

Und, dass er sie auch in Zukunft nie mehr vergisst

Doch er will hier nur gewinnen

Um diesem Schicksal zu entrinnen

Der Gegner ist dieser bunte Hund

Er kam vielleicht aus dem selben Grund

Er wird’s ihm gönnen, denkt er, doch dann besinnt er sich

Er muss hier raus und so vergeht die Liebe nicht

Und er landet den ersten Schlag

Sein Gegner weicht, also trifft ihn hart

Doch er steckt’s weg, er hat eine Unendlichkeit

Und Energie irgendwo und er lässt sich Zeit

Doch er will hier nur gewinnen

Um seinem Schicksal zu entrinnen

Die Kohle nehmen und verschwinden

Einfach verschwinden

Denn zwei strahlende Augen dieser Stadt aus Stein

Brachten das ausgesperrte Licht herein

Lassen ihn spüren es ist Zeit zu gehen

Leben ist schön und keiner kann uns das nehmen

Und er hat diesen Kampf im Griff

Spürt, dass er bald wieder Sieger ist

Der Gegner kämpft, doch der Schlag kommt schon nicht mehr hart

Der Boxer ist wütig und kommt dann voll in Fahrt

Dabei hört er die Menge schreien

Sie alle wollen seine Brüder sein

Und er begreift, dass er nur wirklich Abschied nimmt

Und alles klar macht, wenn er hier jetzt nicht gewinnt

Und er will hier nur verschwinden

Über seinen Schatten springen

Um seinem Schicksal zu entrinnen

Und irgendwo von vorn beginnen

Und der Ringrichter zählt ihn an

Sein Gegner, der es kaum fassen kann

Steht plötzlich da und die Menge gröhlt nur für ihn

Der Boxer liegt und liegt und liegt

And everyone wants to be his brothers

They want to hear that he's their boy forever

And that he will never forget her again in the future

But he only wants to win here

To escape from this fate

The opponent is this colorful dog

It may have come for the same reason

He'll begrudge him it, he thinks, but then he thinks about it

He has to get out of here and that's not how love goes away

And he lands the first punch

His opponent dodges, so hit him hard

But he puts it away, he has infinity

And energy somewhere and he takes his time

But he only wants to win here

To escape his fate

Take the coal and leave

Just disappear

Because two bright eyes of this city of stone

Brought in the locked out light

Make him feel it's time to go

Life is beautiful and nobody can take that away from us

And he's got this fight under control

Feels that he will soon be a winner again

The opponent fights, but the blow is no longer hard

The boxer is angry and then gets into full swing

He hears the crowd screaming

They all want to be his brothers

And he realizes that he's really just saying goodbye

And makes everything clear if he doesn't win here now

And he just wants to get out of here

jump over his shadow

To escape his fate

And start over somewhere

And the referee counts him out

His opponent who can hardly believe it

Suddenly stands there and the crowd roars just for him

The boxer lies and lies and lies

Because two bright eyes of this city of stone

Brought in the locked out light

Make him feel it's time to go
