Eloy is a progressive/space rock band from Germany, formed in 1969. The band's name is taken from H.G. Wells' novel "The Time Machine," where the Eloi are a race of people from the distant future. Eloy are known for their concept albums, such as "Ocean" and "Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes" which have become classics of the genre. The band combines complex musical structures with philosophical lyrics, which has earned them recognition among progressive rock enthusiasts. Eloy made a significant contribution to the development of space rock, remaining one of the most influential bands in their genre.
