
De La Soul is an American hip-hop trio formed in 1987 in Long Island, New York. The group, consisting of Kelvin Mercer and Vincent Mason, is celebrated for its eclectic sampling, clever lyrics, and contributions to the evolution of jazz rap and alternative hip-hop. While still in high school, they caught the attention of producer Prince Paul with their demo tape featuring the track "Plug Tunin’". Their debut album, "3 Feet High and Rising", is widely regarded as a hip-hop masterpiece, showcasing playful wordplay and innovative production.
