Drum hab' ich mich auch schwer ins Zeug gelegt

und Komponist: Es ist mir nicht gelungen.

Es handelt sich bei dem, was ich hier

für Sie auf der Bühne präsentier',

ja wie immer, um Klavier und Gesang — gleichzeitig.

Gleichzeitig, das ist, ich sag es gleich

für mich ja nicht immer ganz so leicht.

Doch dafür dauert’s auch nur halb so lang.

Klavier und Gesang gleichzeitig — so war es bisher.

In meinem neuen Programm

gibt’s ausnahmsweise auch mal Klavier und Gesang nacheinander.

Grund: Von mir wird erwartet, dass ich heute Abend zwei Stunden spiele.

Ich hab' aber nur neues Repertoire für eine Stunde.

Bin deshalb gezwungen ein

wenig auf Zeit zu spielen.
