
Stéphane Grappelli was a French jazz violinist born in 1908 in Paris, France. Known as one of the pioneers of jazz violin, he co-founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France with guitarist Django Reinhardt in 1934. This group became one of the most celebrated ensembles in the history of jazz. Grappelli's career spanned over six decades, during which he collaborated with numerous artists, including Yehudi Menuhin and Oscar Peterson. His signature style blended swing, gypsy jazz, and classical influences, with notable recordings like "Minor Swing" and "Nuages". Grappelli's contributions to jazz established the violin as a prominent instrument in the genre.
