Die Entdeckung des grünen Landes hatte sich schnell, schnell verbreitet

Erik der Rote zögerte nicht, kaufte ein Schiff und versuchte sein Glück

Auf dem Weg mit dem Ziel gen Westen, das Land ist bald, bald in Sicht

Doch das Eis vor der Küste zwang ihn südwärts, südwärts zu drehen

Doch das Bild dieses Landes ändert sich schnell, schnell und merklich

Vor ihm lagen endlose Küsten, an denen es sich lohnt an Land zu gehen

Mit festem Schritt, das Schwert in der Hand, um zu erkunden die neue Welt

Im Zeichen der Sterne brach er auf

Unter Verbannung nahms seinen Lauf

Mit seinen Männern und Njord’s Gefüge

Fand er den Traum für große Ziele

Drei lange Sommer verbrachten sie dort im Einklang mit Natur, Natur und den

Göttern

Dann fuhr er zurück und machte bekannt, die grüne Insel Grönland

Zu bereichern dieses Land mit Leben im Sinne des alten, alten Brauchs

Jäger und Sammler, Feste und Löhne, ein neues Reich für Midgards Söhne

Im Zeichen der Sterne brach er auf

Fand er den Traum für große Ziele

Unter vielen Qualen erreichten sie Grönland, viele Männer im Sturm verloren

Versunkene Schiffe am Meeresgrund für die neue Heimat, die neue Welt

Einst wurde Erik vom König verbannt, nun ist er Herrscher in seinem Land

Der Lohn für seines Lebens Tun war ein Platz an der Tafel und ewiger Ruhm

The discovery of the green country had spread fast, fast

Erik the Red did not hesitate, bought a ship and tried his luck

Erik was once banished by the king, now he is ruler in his country
