Oon kulkuriksi syntynyt mä vainen

Ja paljain jaloin kierrän maailmaa.

Näin kerran unta: joutsen taivahainen

Mun antoi hetken kanssaan taivaltaa.

Näin maat ja metsät, järvet maani armaan,

Sen kaiken sinitaivahalta näin.

Tuuli lauloi laulujaan,

Sadun hohde peitti maan,

Ihanampaa en mä koskaan nähdä saata.

Ja laulun tämän lauloi mulle tuuli:

«On kaikkein kaunein aina oma maa,

Niin moni muuta paremmaksi luuli,

Mut pettymyksen itsellensä saa.

Ei missään taivas sinisemmin loista,

Ei missään hanki hohda kirkkaammin.

Tämä paina sydämees,

Niin on taivas aina sees,

Ja sun taipaleeltas murhe kauas kaikkoo.»

Niin päättyi uni, mutta vielä vuotan

Mä kohtaavani kerran joutsenen,

Ja siihen asti unelmiini luotan;

On helppo uneksia ihmisen.

Siks' paljain jaloin onneani etsin,

Ja huolet laulullani haihdutan.

Elämä on ihanaa,

Kun sen oikein oivaltaa

Ja kun lentää siivin valkein niin kuin joutsen.

I am born a wanderer

And I travel the world barefoot.

I once dreamed: a swan heavenly

I gave heaven for a moment.

I saw lands and forests, lakes at the mercy of my country,

I saw it all from blue sky wax.

The wind sang its songs,

The glow of the fairy tale covered the land,

It's never been more wonderful to see.

And the song of this was sung to me by the wind:

«It is always the most beautiful country,

So many others thought it better,

But you get disappointed.

Nowhere is the sky bluer,

Nowhere does it get a shimmer brighter.

This will hit your heart,

So the sky is always inside,

And the sorrow of the sun is far from over. "

That's how my sleep ended, but I'm still leaking

I meet a swan once,

And until then, I trust my dreams;

It is easy to dream of a human being.

That's why I'm looking for my happiness barefoot,

And my worries evaporate with my singing.

Life is wonderful,

When you really realize it

And when the wings fly white like a swan.
