Za tvou bárkou dívka hledí,

smutně hledí k zádi bárky,

když se obzor barví mědí,

vzpomíná na tvoje dárky,

vzpomíná bez ustání.

Ani s půlnocí neusíná,

marně volá - smilování,

oči utírá, ruce spíná,

že už nemá milování.

Ráno prosí, večer čeká,

jestli spatří tvoji bárku,

chvíli pláče, chvíli kleká

s modlitbou k svatému Marku,

on tě má nazpátek dát.

Až se plachty tvé někde svinou,

půjdeš s jinou, nebudeš znát,

že se utrápí tvojí vinou

jedna z dívek, cos ji měl rád,

Behind your barge, the girl stares,

he stares sadly at the stern of the barge,

when the horizon turns copper,

remembers your gifts

he remembers incessantly.

He doesn't even sleep at midnight,

he calls in vain - mercy,

In the morning he begs, in the evening he waits,

if he sees your barge,
