Ich ging zu ihr nach Haus

und fragte rund heraus:

Wann endlich heiraten wir?

sie hielt den Atem an denn ein mir fremder Mann

stand in der Schlafzimmertür.

So kam alles heraus

ich war der zweite Verlobte im Haus !

dieser Zirkus gefällt mir nicht

ich steh’nicht gern im Rampenlicht

spiel’für andere den Clown.

aber ich steh’nur dumm herum

und muß deine Launen verdaun.

du machst mich lächerlich

aber trotzdem hab’ich dir immer verziehn

das ist mein Problem.

dieser Zirkus wird weitergehn

denn solange wir zwei uns sehn

bleib’ich immer dein Clown.

Trotz vieler Sorgen und Pannen mit dir

gab es doch einen Hochzeitstermin.

Mit unseren Freunden und Trauzeugen

zogen wir alle zum Standesamt

dort stand vor dem Portal der andere Mann

und der sang dieses Mal:

Despite many worries and mishaps with you

there was a wedding date.

With our friends and groomsmen

we all moved to the registry office

there stood the other man in front of the portal
