Slash (real name Сол Хадсон ) is a British-born American rock musician, born in 1965. He is best known as the guitarist for the hard rock band Guns N' Roses , with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. During his later tenure with Guns N' Roses he formed the side project Slash's Snakepit . In the 2000s, he co-founded the band Velvet Revolver , which returned him to the ranks of leading rock artists. His contributions to the hard rock genre include iconic guitar riffs and solos that remain emblematic of rock music.
