Joey Bada$$ (real name Joann Virgil Scott) is an American rapper from Brooklyn, born in 1995. He is a co-founder of the collective Pro Era , with whom he released three mixtapes and an album. His debut mixtape, 1999 , released in 2012, received critical acclaim and brought him widespread recognition. In 2013, he released the mixtape Summer Knights , which was included in XXL magazine's list of the best mixtapes of the year. In 2015, the rapper released his debut album, B4.DA.$$ , which reached number five on Billboard 200 chart and sold 55,000 copies in its first week. Joey Bada$$ has made a significant contribution to the development of modern hip-hop.
