Madlib (born October 24, 1973) is an American record producer, DJ, rapper, and multi-instrumentalist. Hailing from the United States, he works in the genres of electronica, jazz, and hip-hop. Madlib is known for his collaborations with artists such as The Alkaholiks , Mos Def , De La Soul , Ghostface Killah , Talib Kweli , AG , MF DOOM , the late J Dilla , and Freddie Gibbs . He has also released several projects as a DJ, including mixes and remixes. Madlib himself claims to be "a DJ first, a producer second, and an MC last." His contributions to the development of hip-hop and jazz have made him a cult figure in the music industry.
