Madvillain was an American hip-hop duo formed in 2002, consisting of rapper/producer MF Doom and producer/rapper Madlib. Their debut album, "Madvillainy", released in 2004 under Stones Throw, received critical acclaim and became the label's most commercially successful release. Despite rumors of a follow-up, the group never released another album. In 2008, Madlib created "Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remix", reworking MF Doom's vocals from the original. Although Madlib mentioned in 2014 that they were working on new material, no further projects materialized. Madvillain remains a significant influence in alternative hip-hop for their innovative sound and lyricism.
