Joe Newman was an American jazz trumpeter born in 1922 in New Orleans, USA. He was known for his contributions to traditional jazz and his collaboration with Count Basie Orchestra , where he played in the 1940s and 1950s. Among his best-known recordings are the albums "Joe Newman and the Boys in the Band" and "Soft Swingin' Jazz" Newman also worked with such prominent musicians as Frank Foster and Frank Wess . His trumpet style had a significant influence on the development of jazz, particularly in the big band genre.
