Айра Гершвин (real name Израэл Гершовиц ) was an American songwriter born in 1896 in the United States. He was the older brother of renowned composer Джорджа Гершвина and, with him, co-created many popular Broadway productions, including the celebrated opera «Порги и Бесс» . After his brother's death Айра Гершвин continued his career, collaborating with composers such as Гарольд Арлен , Курт Вайль , and Джером Керн . His lyrics were included in four songs on the list of the 100 greatest American film songs. Айра Гершвин left a significant mark on the genres of jazz and musicals.
