GZA, born Gary Earl Grice on August 22, 1966, in the United States, is an American rapper and songwriter. He is best known as one of the founding members of the influential hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Notably, GZA was the only member of the group to release a solo album, "Words from the Genius", prior to the formation of Wu-Tang Clan in 1991. He is also the cousin of fellow members RZA and Ol' Dirty Bastard. His contributions to the genre have solidified his reputation as a lyrical innovator in hip-hop.
