Buck Clayton (real name Wilton Crane Clayton) is an American jazz trumpeter, born in 1911 in Kansas City, USA. He rose to prominence as a leading traditional jazz performer, particularly for his collaborations with Count Basie Orchestra in the 1930s and 1940s. His most famous recordings include "Jumpin' at the Woodside" and "Sentimental Journey" Buck Clayton also worked with legends such as Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington . His contribution to jazz is credited with popularizing a soft and melodic style of trumpet playing.
