Count Basie Orchestra is an American big band founded in 1935 by legendary jazz pianist and bandleader Count Basie . The group began recording in 1936 and quickly became one of the leading jazz ensembles of the swing era. Despite a temporary disbandment in the early 1950s and Count Basie death in 1984, the orchestra continues to perform under the direction of trumpeter Scotty Barnhart . Among their most famous compositions are "One O'Clock Jump" and "April in Paris" Count Basie Orchestra made an enormous contribution to the development of jazz, preserving the big band tradition for new generations.
