Das wird ein toller Abend, es ist Samstag Nacht

Und so gut es geht ham wir uns schick gemacht

Weil wir uns selber ja als ewig jung verstehen

Jetzt spricht mich in der Schlange so ein junges Mädel an

Sie gibt sich richtig Mühe, dass seh ich sofort

Doch ich sag «Tut mir wirklich leid, ich versteh kein Wort»

Die noch gerne in die Disko geht

Für unsere Ohren ist es nie zu spät

Denn wir habn immer zu laut aufgedreht

Am Montag wach ich auf und schau zum Fenster raus

Kann mich an nichts errinern, bin im Krankenhaus

Richtig, in der Disko war ich gut dabei

Und dann gab es offenbar ne nöse Schlägerei

Ich frag die Ärztin, ob sie etwas sagen kann

Was mir passiert ist, doch sie schaut mich fragend an

Sie ist so mitte 30 und recht ansehnlich

Und ich schätze mal sie hört genau so schlecht, wie ich

Denn wir ham alle in der Pubärtät

Den Walkman bis zum Anschlag aufgedreht

Was heut zu Lasten guten Hörens geht

Die taub wie Beethoven durchs leben geht

Doch der hats ja trotzdem zu was gebracht

Ein Umstand, der uns allen Hoffnung macht

Jetzt feier ich den Nächst-Geburtstag und Silvester

Mit der Ärztin und dem Pfleger und der Krankenschwester

Die Musik läuft dann auf 1000 Dezibel

Wir sind die anonymen Menschen ohne Trommelfell

Die sich noch immer gern das Ohr weg brät

So jeder Zweite ist ne taube Nuss

Das gibt uns allen ne Identität

Wir liebten jeden lauten Hit (???)

Heut hören wir alle absolut nix mehr

Die ein Hauch von Arroganz umweht

Weil wir uns auf der Straße nie umdrehen

Wenn man uns ruft, weil wir ja nix verstehn

Das positive macht sich langsam breit

Du hörst nicht mehr, wenn dich dein Chef anschreit

Und wenns mal wieder in den Ohren pfeift

Hörst du auch nicht, wenn deine Frau rumkeift

And as best we can, we've dressed up

Do we really want to go dancing again?

There's a huge run on the shop where we're standing

Now a young girl is approaching me in line

She's really trying, I can see that immediately

But I say "I'm really sorry, I don't understand a word"

It is never too late for our ears

Because we always turned it up too loud

On Monday I wake up and look out the window

Can't remember anything, I'm in the hospital

That's right, I was good at the disco

And then apparently there was a nasty fight

I ask the doctor if she can say anything

What happened to me, but she looks at me questioningly

She's in her mid-30s and quite handsome

And I guess she hears just as badly as I do

Because we're all going through puberty

Turned the Walkman up to the stop

Which today is at the expense of good hearing

Who goes through life deaf like Beethoven

But he still achieved something

A circumstance that gives us all hope

Now I'm celebrating the next birthday and New Year's Eve

With the doctor and the orderly and the nurse

The music then runs at 1000 decibels

Who still likes to fry her ear off

So every second one is a dead nut

The positive is slowly spreading

And when it whistles in your ears again
