Грустные ивы склонились к пруду,

Месяц плывет над водой.

Там, у границы, стоял на посту

Ночью боец молодой.

В грозную ночь он не спал, не дремал,

Землю родную стерег.

В чаще лесной он шаги услыхал

И с автоматом залег.

Черные тени в тумане росли,

Туча на небе темна…

Первый снаряд разорвался вдали —

Так началася война.

Трудно держаться бойцу одному,

Sad willows leaned towards the pond,

The moon floats above the water.

There, at the border, he stood at the post

At night, a young fighter.

On a terrible night, he did not sleep, did not doze off,

Protected his native land.

In the thicket of the forest he heard steps

And lay down with a gun.

Black shadows grew in the mist

A cloud in the sky is dark...

The first shell exploded in the distance -

Thus the war began.

It's hard to keep a fighter alone
