Wolken hängen grau am Himmel

Drücken schwer auf das Gemüt

Ich wollt', ich könnte sie vertreiben

Ein kalter Wind mein Haar umspielt

Bäume stehen entlang des Weges

Ohne Blätter, ohne Farben

Ragen ihre kahlen Äste

In das dunkle Nass der Tage

Ich such' die Sonne, such' das Licht!

Der graue Schleier hält mich, lässt mich nicht

Der Regen fällt in dichten Bahnen

Ich kann den Himmel nur erahnen

Tropfen prasseln auf die Erde

Ich sehe Wolkenberge

Kurze Zeit nur ist es hell

Dunkelheit beherrscht das Land

Kälte kriecht durch jede Ritze

Jede noch so dicke Wand

Ich spür' den Regen auf der Haut

Lausch' gebannt der Tropfen Lied

Die so manche Seele klärt

Und so manche Träne weggespült
