Subway To Sally is an East German folk metal band founded in 1992. Initially, the band performed English-language compositions with elements of Irish and Scottish music. With the release of the album "MCMXCV" in 1995, the band switched to German. Influenced by Skyclad their style combines heavy rock and metal with the use of medieval instruments such as bagpipes, lutes, and fiddles. The band's lyrics are imbued with romantic poetry. Subway To Sally pioneered the medieval metal genre and achieved significant success in Germany. Their work has had a significant influence on the development of folk metal.
