Ich bin auf langer Wanderschaft

Von Dorf zu Dorf, von Stadt zu Stadt

Mal ganz allein, mal mit Gesell

Land auf, Land ab, traditionell

Mit nichts als meinen Stenz bewehrt

Mein Hab und Gut ist fest verschnürt

Der Charlie an der Schulter hängt

Die Nase meinen Weg mir lenkt

Am Leib trag ich nur Kluft und Hut

Die Staude und bin Wohlgemut

Mit Fleiss und Spucke zu erwandern

Die Erfahrungen der anderen

So sammele ich im Wanderbuch

Das Zeugnis meiner Arbeit nun

Spreche zünftig vor, der Siegel pracht

Zu ehren meinen Fremden-Schacht

Bin jahrelang fort von Zuhaus'

Bei jedem Wetter drauf bedacht

Zu finden einen Platz zur Nacht

Und wenn Kuhköppe manchmal lachen

So schert’s mich nicht und meine Sache

Denn einst einheimisch meld ich mich

Dann werd' ich Meister und dann lach ich!
