Was gäb' ich nicht alles

Um einmal zu sein

Der schillernde Tropfen, der leuchtet

Und vom Rande des kristallenen Glases voll Wein

Deine zarten Lippen befeuchtet

Sodann langsam —

Dem Tautropf am Grashalme gleich —

Dein liebliches Kinn überwindet

Deinem Hals hinab, welcher so unendlich weich

Und ein schönes Ende findet

Ich bin Dein Schatten an der Wand

Deine Fußspur im Sand!

Der Wind, der einen Hauch von Dir

Um die Welt trägt

Und jedem nur von Dir erzählt!

Was gäbe ich nicht alles

Um einmal zu sein

Der Tropfen, der vom Wind getragen

Vom Himmel herab — so unendlich rein —

Dich genau trifft am seidenen Kragen

Sodann langsam —

Mit jedem Schritt deinerseits —

Sich die Anmut des Rückens herab windet

Dich beglückt mit einem wohligen Schauerreiz

Und in einer Pore verschwindet

Ich bin Dein Schatten an der Wand

Deine Fußspur im Sand!
