Grýttur, líflaus jarðvegurinn

Svo langt sem augað eygir

Hér mun aldrei neitt þrífast

Eða vaxa

Ógjöful en grimm

Drottnar hér þurrðin

Og við tekur dimm

Eilíf nóttin

Líf færist um set

Og ætlar að frjóvga jörðina

En veikburða hörfar á brott

Út í leiðarlausu langferðina

Hér mun aldrei neitt

Þrífast eða vaxa

Lifa eða dafna

Ísland, steingelda krummaskuð…

Rocky, lifeless soil

Nothing will ever thrive here

Or grow

Incredible but cruel

The drought reigns here

And we get dark
