So hat der, der sich dachte, gelebt

Er war ein Kind und die Welt voller Wunder und Fragen

Er lauschte dem Wind, den er bat, ihm die Antwort zu sagen

Der sagte nichts und er dachte, um nicht zu verzagen

Er war noch jung, wusste wenig und nichts von der Liebe

Die brachte ihm Lohn und Verpflichtung und kaum neue Klarheit

Und manchmal dachte er ohne zu denken einfach still vor sich hin

Er fühlte den Schmerz und er gab seinem Schmerz viele Namen

Es nützte ihm nichts, er sah nur, wie sie gingen und kamen

Er dachte an Gott und sein Leben, an Tod und Erbarmen

Und er ließ Gott gewähren und atmete in seinen Schmerz

Dann kam die Liebe noch mal oder so: Sie erwachte

Stolz und zerbrechlich und anders als er es sich dachte

Was sie auch tat, es war so, dass es ihn glücklich machte

Und die Liebe, wie er sie erlebte, war mehr als ein Spiel

Soweit das Lied, die Geschichte von dem, der sich dachte

Was er sich erträumte und tat, wie er weinte und lachte

Auch wenn am Ende die Zeit keinen Unterschied machte

So hat der, der sich dachte, für das, was er dachte, gelebt
