So selbstverständlich und schön

Cool in der Gegend rumstehen

Wenn man sie sieht, kann man schon neidisch werden

Die Jungen so athletisch und männlich

Und auch die Mädchen sehen phantastisch aus

Manche meinen, sie wären vielleicht etwas dämlich

Doch wer so denkt, kennt sich mit Jungsein nicht aus

Jugend von heute — die Zukunft von morgen

Mit ihren Freunden in der Innenstadt

Beim Bummeln und Shoppen wie ihre Alten

Nur andere Klamotten und mehr Taschengeld

Sie haben es wirklich nicht leicht

Aber auch nicht wirklich schwer

Vielleicht ist das ihr Problem

Wenn man es so sieht, kann man Mitleid haben

Und überall hört man die Eltern klagen:

«Mein Gott, was haben wir falsch gemacht?»

«Also wenn Du mich fragst, ich kann’s Dir nicht sagen

Aber wenn das mal nichts mit dem System zu tun hat»

Mit ihren Träumen in der Innenstadt

Beim Essen und Rauchen, zu nichts zu gebrauchen

Mit neuen Klamotten und mehr Taschengeld

Wie sie die Straßen langgehen

So unaufhaltsam und schön

Cool in der Gegend rumstehen

Und jeder weiß, sie werden die Herrscher der Welt sein
