В старім саду серед нічної мли

Дві постаті непевнії пройшли.

В них зір погас, уста у них змарніли,

I ледве чутно голоси бриніли.

В старім саду, в зимову ніч сумну

Два привиди будили давнину.

— Ти згадуєш, як ми колись любились?

— Навіщо вам ті згадки знадобились?

— Чи бачиш ти й тепер мене вві сні?

Чи рвешся серцем ти до мене?

— Ні.

— Як ми колись удвох жили щасливо,

Зливаючи серця й вуста!

— Можливо.

— Де синь небес, де сяєво надій?

— Надії ті почезли в тьмі густій.

Отак ішли вони у ніч зимову,

I тільки місяць чув чудну розмову.

In the old garden in the middle of the night mist

Two uncertain figures passed.

Their eyesight is dim, their mouths are faint,

And the voices were barely audible.

In the old garden, on a sad winter night

Two ghosts awakened antiquity.

- Do you remember how we once fell in love?

- Why did you need those mentions?

"Do you still see me in your dreams?"

Are you heartbroken to me?

- No.

- As we once lived happily together,

Merging hearts and lips!

- Maybe.

- Where is the blue of heaven, where is the radiance of hope?

- Those hopes disappeared in the thick darkness.

This is how they went in the winter night,

I only heard a wonderful conversation for a month.
