
Пётр Ильич Чайковский (1840–1893) was a prominent Russian composer born in Votkinsk, Russia. He is considered one of the greatest exponents of classical music, working in the genres of symphonies, operas, ballets, and chamber music. Among his most famous works are the ballets "Лебединое озеро" , "Щелкунчик" and "Спящая красавица" , as well as the opera "Евгений Онегин" . His Sixth Symphony, known as "Патетическая" is considered a masterpiece. Чайковский had a profound influence on the development of classical music, combining Russian folk motifs with Western European traditions.
