
Lou Reed (born Lewis Allan Reed on March 2, 1942, in the USA) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and poet. He gained prominence as the guitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter for the rock band The Velvet Underground, a group that, despite limited commercial success during its existence, became one of the most influential in the history of underground and alternative rock. Reed's solo career spanned five decades, with notable works like "Walk on the Wild Side". Known for his deadpan vocal style, poetic lyrics, and experimental guitar work, Lou Reed left an indelible mark on rock and alternative music. He passed away on October 27, 2013.
