
Ornette Coleman (1930–2015) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of free jazz. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he challenged traditional jazz structures with his groundbreaking 1959 album "The Shape of Jazz to Come". Over his career, he released influential works such as "Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation" and "Science Fiction". Coleman received numerous accolades, including a Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2007 for his album "Sound Grammar".
