Jon Lord was a British composer and keyboardist born in 1941 in the United Kingdom. He is best known as a member of the legendary rock band Deep Purple , where he contributed significantly to the creation of their signature sound, combining elements of rock and classical music. In addition to Deep Purple , he also played in bands such as Artwoods , Flower Pot Men , Whitesnake , and Paice, Ashton & Lord . Among his best-known works are the organ parts on the songs "Smoke on the Water" and "Child in Time" His contributions to progressive rock and world classical music remain significant to this day.
