
John Cooper Clarke is an English poet, singer, and performance artist born in 1949 in the United Kingdom. He gained prominence in 1977 on the punk scene with the single "Psycle Sluts", produced by Martin Hannett. Clarke, who once led The Invisible Girls, toured with acts like Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, and Elvis Costello. His creative peak is often associated with the album "Snap, Crackle and Bop". Dubbed the "Poet Laureate of Punk Rock" by critics, Clarke is also considered by some as the first British rapper, blending poetry and music in innovative ways.
