GZA , also known as Genius , is an American rapper and songwriter born on August 22, 1966. He is a founding member of the hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan and the only member of the group to release a solo album before its formation in 1991. His debut album "Words from the Genius" was released in 1991, and his best-known work, "Liquid Swords" , released in 1995, is considered a classic of the genre. GZA has made significant contributions to the development of hip hop through both his solo projects and his work with the Wu-Tang Clan .
