
Gerry Mulligan (born April 6, 1927, USA) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and arranger. One of the founders of the "cool jazz" style, he is considered the greatest baritone saxophonist in jazz history. Mulligan helped elevate the baritone saxophone to the status of other instruments in jazz. His career spanned decades, including collaborations with legends such as Miles Davis and Chet Baker . Among his well-known compositions are "Jeru" and "Line for Lyons" Mulligan contribution to jazz remains significant, particularly in the development of cool jazz and the baritone saxophone.
