
Cesária Évora was a Cape Verdean singer, born in 1941. She performed morna, fado, and modinha, singing in Cape Verdean Creole. Her musical style was characterized by acoustic accompaniment, including piano, ukulele, accordion, violins, and clarinet. Cesária Évora gained international fame thanks to her album "Miss Perfumado" which included the hit "Sodade" During her career, she was awarded a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music. Cesária Évora made a significant contribution to the popularization of Cape Verdean music on the international stage.
