Bob James is an American jazz keyboardist, arranger, and music producer, born in 1939. He is the founder of the group Fourplay and the composer of "Angela", the theme song for the TV show Taxi. According to VICE, his early albums have been heavily sampled, contributing significantly to the development of hip-hop. Some of his most notable recordings include "Nautilus", "Westchester Lady", "Tappan Zee", and his rendition of "Take Me to the Mardi Gras". Bob James has left a lasting impact on both jazz and modern music through his innovative compositions and production work.
