
Astor Piazzolla (1921–1992) was an Argentine composer and bandoneon virtuoso whose work significantly transformed the tango genre. Born in Argentina, he founded the tango nuevo style, which combined elements of jazz and classical music. Piazzolla collaborated with various musical groups, performing his works, such as "Libertango" and "Adiós Nonino" which became his signature tunes. In his home country, he is known as "El Gran Ástor" for his contribution to the development of Argentine musical culture.
