Jag välkomnas till ett aftonland

Med prunkande skyar österut

Omringad av kvällningens purpurbrand

Från sekelbörjan till sekelslut

Om jag vågar mig genom dunklets portal

En vandring där skuggor ruva

Längs sluttningsmyr och sprickdal

Flyr ljuset som en skrämd duva

Natten visste vas skymningen såg

Att mörkret skall kväsa dagerns gemål

Och måla solskivans epilog

När aftonstjärnan tänder sitt magiska bål

Ur dagsljusets boja tussmörkret ilar

I en del av ett kosmiskt arrangemang

Där filosofin avfyrar påfordrade pilar

Men tronas av myters trolska efterklang

Bland skogens skrudar har jag vilseletts

Av kvällssolens sista strimma

Som lagt till rygga dygnets krets

Och lagt i mina händer en ödestimma

Dock hjälper månen till att leda banden

När mörkret seglar med känslornas svallvåg

Ljuset har välts över himlaranden

Ty natten visste vad skymningen såg

I'm welcomed to an evening country

With showy clouds to the east

Surrounded by the purple fire of the evening

From the beginning of the century to the end of the century

If I venture through the portal of obscurity

A hike where shadows brood

Along the slope bog and fissure valley

Flee the light like a frightened dove

At night the vase knew twilight saw

That darkness should stifle the consummation of the day

And paint the epilogue of the solar disk

When the evening star lights his magic bonfire

From the buoy of daylight the twilight darkens

In a part of a cosmic arrangement

Where philosophy fires required arrows

But is enthroned by the magical reverberations of myths

Among the ornaments of the forest, I have been misled

Of the last streak of the evening sun

Which added to the back circle of the day

And put in my hands a fateful hour

However, the moon helps to lead the bands

When the darkness sails with the surge of emotions

The light has been rolled over the edge of the sky

For the night knew what twilight saw
