Однажды под вечер лесною тропой

Со службы солдат возвращался домой

Тропинка исчезла, он сбился с пути

Не знает, бедняга, куда же идти

И вспомнил он матушки старый зарок

В лесу ночевать опасайся сынок

Там в чаще глухой не один уже год

А может лет сто или двести живет

Лесная царевна – прекрасна как ночь

Русалки болотной и лешего дочь

Ей в черные очи опасно смотреть

Заманит в болото на верную смерть

Но вот перед ним расступились кусты

Девица стоит неземной красоты

Он бросил котомку и кинулся прочь

Девица зовет, предлагает помочь

- «Деревня в другой от тебя стороне

Там топь впереди возвращайся ко мне»

Не видя дороги – в глазах пелена

Он в топи бежит, шепчет – «Это она»

Лесная царевна – прекрасна как ночь

Русалки болотной и лешего дочь

Ей в черные очи опасно смотреть

Заманит в болото на верную смерть

Солдат повзрослевшей сестры не узнал

Ведь дома он очень давно не бывал

И сгинул в лесах под зловонной водой

Девица с котомкой вернулась домой

А мать отыскала в котомке кисет

Подаренный сыну в четырнадцать лет

-«Проклятая ведьма, сама сатана,

Я знаю, сгубила сыночка она»

Лесная царевна – прекрасна как ночь
