Viipyi retkellään hän muutaman tunnin

Sitten kotiin saapui metsämies

Oli reppu, lapio ja haulikko

Mutta koira vaan oli tipoties

Ei koira jänistä hangella ajanut

Ei lintua puuhun haukkunut

Ei isäntäänsä enää palvellut

Ei pelkkä ystävyys pelastanut

Se isännälle nyt oli tarpeeton

Vain häiriöksi tuo koira harmiton

Ei saanut pilata se juhlaa ihmisten

Tuhota sanomaa lämmön, rakkauden
