Und zog alle in seinen Bann

Ich hörte ihmzu

Und ich träumte

Wie er einmal später zu sein:

Lieder zu singen und Freude zu bringen

Und sammelte Geld für ihn ein!

So fing alles an mit dem Mann

Den wohl keiner mehr kennt:

Heut sing ich wie er

Und das fällt mir nicht schwer

Wenn ich am Abend

Im Rampenlicht steh

Denk ich noch zurück

Weil ich alles wie heut' vor mir seh

Dann sing ich für ihn

So als ob er im Publikum wär:

Ich schulde ihm viel

Aber er kommt schon lange nicht mehr!
