Der Wind umspielt die Nacht, formt sich leis' zur Melodie

Von weit ist er gekommen, aus dem Land der Poesie

So schwer wird mir das Herz und das Glück scheint nie gewiss

Ein Moment kann wertvoll sein, wenn er schon vorüber ist

Und ich höre schon wie das Leben aus der Ferne nach mir ruft

Doch in mir ist nur dieses Schweigen, das die Qual in der Seele sucht

Ich seh den Vögeln zu, die an mir vorüberziehen

Und ich denk an dein Gesicht, das mir heut im Traum erschien…

Was soll die ganze Welt, hier bei Wein und Kerzenlicht

Wenn der Mensch in seiner Pracht schon am Klang der Nacht zerbricht
