Llegó desde muy lejos hasta el valle

Compró una casa blanca junto al río

Al pie de las montañas

Cubiertas de rocío y perezosas

Dormían las violetas

En la rivera de chopos amarillos

Plantó en aquel rincón un sauce y un ciprés

Y en la sombra fresca un avellano

En los ribazos lirios y azucenas

Y en el patio naranjos

Vistió con mil geranios los balcones

Y en la puerta un rosal de rosas blancas

Y se vistió su traje de domingos

Y se sentó a esperarla

Pensó que en cualquier momento, ella llegaría

Consultaba su reloj y sonreía

Se fue borrando lentamente el sol en el sendero

Y se durmió pensando en ella, junto al fuego
