Polternd, knacksend, rostig’Achsen,

So ward einst durchreist’das Land!

Dröhnend, ächzend, quietschend Bremsen,

Fast es nahm uns den Verstand!

Fluten trotzend, Eis absprengend,

Schreiten wir voran beharrend,

Obgleich so ein’ger Wegesweiser,

In manch’Nebelwand entschwand!

Auf uns’rer Fahrt,

All’Stolz bewahrt,

Auf uns’rer Fahne,

Geschrieben, nie verharrt!

In Windes Eilen, nie verweilend!

Rasend, schreitend!

So schließt euch mit an,

Treibt mich mit nach vorn'.

Nächtens reisend, schwerlich schreitend,
