Ich hing ab in dieser Stadt

Fernab der Heimat trister Pracht

Ging hernach mich zu ersch¶pfen

An Sonne, Wind und fremden G¶tzen.

Die kleine Bar am Felsenrande

Zog lichtw¤rts mich in ihren Banne

Fr¶hlichkeit drang in mein Ohr

Ersp¤hte einen Blick durchs Tor.

Sternenglanz traf auf mein Bestehen

Wollt im Augenblick nach Ewigkeit mich sehnen

Blut schoss sјџ durch meine Venen

Raum und Zeit entschwanden — wie alles Flehen.

Tanzend zerrann die Nacht im Fluge

Ekstase gab den Leibern keine Ruhe

Konntest dich nur schwer verstecken

Ach lass mich doch deine Wunden lecken.

Ein Paradies in meiner Hand

Gelitt uns Morgenr¶te an den Strand

In den Sand schriebst du — Ich liebe dich!

Und rauntest — Es kostet nichts.

Far away from home's dreary splendor

Afterwards went to exhaust me

To sun, wind and foreign idols.

The little bar on the edge of the cliff

Lightward drew me into her spell

Happiness filled my ears

Spotted a peek through the gate.

Blood shot sweetly through my veins

Space and time vanished - like all supplication.

Dancing, the night flew by

Ecstasy gave no rest to the bodies

A paradise in my hand
